Good!

The House actually voted to repeal part of the Patriot act. Reasonable people on both sides of the aisle managed to prevail and realize that you don't have to have a secret Foreign Intelligence Surveillance Court issue warrants with a lower threshhold of proof than criminal courts. I think Criminal courts and Constitution will do nicely thank you!

Oh right, the Constitution and the Bill of Rights!!! Those documents are pretty fucking sweet the last time I checked!

Stupid Runaway bride nonsense!

I need to just come right out and say it: the media pays to much attention to these missing person cases! Whew! The runaway bride abducted herself! There is no story in that. The only possible story is that she is an inconsiderate idiot. She should not be given a book or movie deal simply for being an idiot and inconveniencing hundreds of people. Jennifer Wilbanks you SUCK! Your husband should leave you!

JUST LOOK AT HER! Would you stay with her after she leaves you and perpetrates a fraud on the public?

Frist things First....

Terri Shiavo's autopsy results were revealed the other day and it was revealed (surprise surprise) that she was completely and utterly brain dead with absolutely no hope of recovery. The poor woman was completely blind and her brain was half the size of a normal person, according to medical examiners.

I would hope someone would question Bill Frist's ability to still be a doctor since he said that she could recover and that it looked like she responded to visual stimuli after he viewed a video tape of her. If Frist wants to pander to his base of hard-line, right-wing, conservatives rather then be a doctor that is fine but please lets never believe another "diagnosis" by Dr. Frist again.

oh....Fridge!

William "The Refrigerator" Perry has put his superbowl ring up for auction. Apparently, doing poorly in hot dog eating contests doesn't bring in as much dough as one would hope! I feel bad for the Fridge!

Scott Skiles

Scott Skiles has agreed to a four year extension with the Bulls. He is the only coach to be able to pull the Bulls out of their 6 year talespin after MJ's departure and I think this is a great move for the franchise. Keeping Skiles not only means that the bulls have a quality young coach locked up for 4 years but it will bring some stability to a franchise that has seen 4 coaches in 6 years!

Kudos to Paxson and the entire Bulls front office for getting this done!

GO BULLS!

Darn activist judges!

Today the SCOTUS ruled that Federal drug laws will trump state laws that allow medicinal marijuana. I found this surprising for a court that is very strong on state rights.
I'm not a huge mark for federalism but some of the Supreme Court justices really are so I wonder how they voted. According to CNN.com O'Connor, Rehnquist, and Thomas dissented. Where-o-where is Scalia? I don't always agree with Rehnquist, Thomas, or O'Connor but at least they have the stones to stick to their federalist guns!

Apparently Scalia has abandoned his Federalist brothers. (maybe he was high, Mere's joke not mine) Now, I haven't read Scalia's concurring opinion, if he wrote one, but I don't see where his consistency has gone. What happened to the Federalist judge I knew and disliked? Now he appears to be simply a conservative judge that will advocate that point of view no matter even if it completely inconsistent with approach to Constitutional law. I haven't heard cries regarding Scalia's own personal brand of activism but if we're going to label liberal judges as "activist" why not do the same for Scalia?!?!?!?!

Deep Throat....

I think that it is cool that Deep Throat has finally been revealed. Good work W. Mark Felt, you are the most famous whistle blower in history!

P.S. Eat it Nixon.
