We are looking, very seriously, at a house in Kingman. It is really pretty sweet, it is a 4 bedroom 2 1/2 bath house in the hills with a great view of the valley! Check it out:

The Kitchen (No Fridge, or washer or dryer, but apparently no houses come with them in Kingman....Odd.)

The living room is pretty big, there is another room with a fireplace through the door at the end on the right.

Check it out, a small outdoor bar. It comes with a Kegerator (currently not functioning) a sink, a small 1/2 bath, and a hot tub which isn't hooked up with a small seating area! It would be awesome if we could get it all working!

World Cup and Soccer's General Insanity

I was reading a recent SI and I came to learn of Kerlon Moura Souza, an 18 yr old player for a the Brazilian team. Anyway, he invented The Seal Dribble where he flicks the ball from his feet to his head and can run while dribbling it off his head! This makes it impossible for a defender to get the ball from him without fouling him. Amazing!

When I was younger I (and others) would punish a friend's younger brother by writing "Frito Bandito" (the character is pictured above) on his head. We would use any permanent writing implement we could find.
One time, he sneezed directly on me and I accidentally back handed the kid across the face: bitch-slap-style.
My buddy Chaim once tossed an ottoman onto the kid.
Another time, Colin, myself, and Tom threw Drew out onto a frozen pile of snow and left him by the side of the road.
Drew is a totally cool guy, I'm extremely surprised he isn't a weirdo because of all the abuse we heaped upon him when we were younger.

Coral Gables Garbage Removal

If you have never seen the system Coral Gables has in place for trash you are really missing out. The way it works is that people put their trash and lawn waste in these little pits by the side of the road. Then, garbage trucks come and pick it up. This process, however, is not as easy as it seems. Do guys get out of the truck and then grab the trash and throw it in the truck? No. Is there a gigantic robotic arm which picks up the trash and dumps it in a truck? Oh yeah!
It is really as if Coral Gables allowed a 10 year old boy to design their trash pickup system. Other ideas which were rejected by coral gables:

1. Gigantic laser which incinerates the trash instantly.
2. Freeze ray, you freeze it. Smash it. Leave it.
3. Just leaving it for mom
4. Attaching it to a rocket and flinging it into the sun. (Superman IV style!)
5. Eating it.

Take a closer look and check out those prices! I mean, I understand that gas costs a little more on the west coast but those fuckers seem high! So i checked it out and after a brief google it appears that these prices are high. See it here. Who would want to save the "balls" of a business which is price gouging!?!?!?!? The prices here seem to be about $.20 higher than what is listed as average.

I found out the other day that my Pops, PB, has taken a stand against Valentine's Day. Apparently the old man has reached the end of his proverbial rope. He objects to celebrating Valentine's day but is not actually worked up about having to buy things. He still bought Mom flowers, however, instead of the card reading "Happy Valentine's Day!" it read "Have a Happy Lincoln's Birthday!". I think PB has simply reached a point in his life where he is gonna do whatever the fuck he wants, in other words "Damn the torpedoes, full speed ahead!".
I have to give it too him, it is pretty cool. The flowers keep the peace at home and yet he can still stick it to the man and praise one of our country's greatest presidents. Good work PB! Maybe this year is the year you get Nixon!

Color and Commentary

As everyone knows there is a new team calling Monday Night Football (MNF). Joe Theisman, Mike Tirico, and Tony Kornheiser are now the new triumvirate which will be calling the MNF games. I think this will be a good line-up, however, it got me thinking about assembling a Dream Team of football announcing. I am only going to include current announcers, it is not anything against the older guys, I just know more about the more recent crews.
A dream team of football announcers could be composed of several guys: Troy Aikman, Moose, The PTI guys, Joe Buck, Bob Costas, Ron (Jaws) Jaworski, Keith Jackson, Lynne Swann, Myron Cope, Melissa Stark. Of course, you can’t have all these folks jammed into a booth to call a game. Even putting four people into a booth is too many, the best is two-three man team with one-two people down on the sidelines. Because of this, not everybody is going to make it onto my dream team of commentators.
Lets start with the play-by-play, all of these guys are good but I would have to go with Keith Jackson. He is not only already an ABC-ESPN guy but also, for me, he is the voice of college football. I know, I know, college football is the key to the sentence. But for my money he is the guy to go to. Also, those Gatorade commercials would be crap without KJ!
For a color-commentator you have to go with Troy Aikman. While Troy played for the biggest ensemble of scum and villainy anywhere in the universe he is an excellent commentator.
I think that the two man combination of Jackson and Aikman would make a great team, however, I am going to choose an alternate. This alternate would not replace either of the regular guys but would simply join them. For this alternate I would choose Mike Wilbon. Nothing against TK but Wilbon is my boy, and I think he can stay awake more easily.
The sideline team. Clearly, Melissa Stark makes the cut for obvious reasons. In a surprise move, I am gonna put Myron Cope, inventor of the terrible towel, down there too. I put old Myron down there because he is hilarious. If you have not heard him he is like a squeakier, smaller, Western-PA version of Don Vito.
The Jaws factor. I love Jaws. His analysis is excellent and very interesting. Jaws did not make my list simply because I love his analysis in the pre-game and post-game so much! I simply cannot sacrifice his talents from those segments to put him in the booth. I just wanted to clear this up because it could be considered a major error to not include him.

That is my list. Look on it with awe!

Larry Johnson Sr. has been named recruiter of the year by rivals.com. This simply illustrates what a good year PSU just had recruiting talent which they can use to reload instead of rebuild. Previous winners include: Ed Orgeron of Southern California (2004) and Kevin Steele of Florida State (2005). However, this is first time a Big Ten coach has received this honor!
This effort on the recruiting end is what can catapult PSU back to being a perennial powerhouse in college football. Good work Big LJ!

Bad hair and Crime

Because of my clinical placement, I get the dubious pleasure of getting to clap my eyes upon a lot of criminals. I have noticed several things about the average criminal but the most interesting is the previlance of extremely bizzarre hair. The first of which is....the rat tail.

I think the common link between the awful haircut and being a criminal comes down to terrible decision making. This is the haircut they CHOSE! It isn't as if this guy walked into the barber shop and said: "just a littel off the top." and then was saddled with a rat tail. It was a conscious decision. He asked for his hair to be short, real short, everywhere except for about a nickle sized amount in the back. Oh Yeah! If you think this haircut looks good it must be more likely that you would think growing a forrest of marijuana in your shed is a good idea too.

Pat Devlin and why Miami sucks!

There has been a lot of news recently about Pat Devlin, a highly recruited highschool QB, who recently decided to attend PSU in the fall instead of Miami. This decision has been called a "coup", but why is that? I don't think it was an coup at all but rather a young man making the correct decision.
Why would anyone want to go to Miami? There are tons of hurricanes, which is less fun than it sounds. It is blazingly hot for about 8 months of the year. Lastly, Miami fans are the most apathetic fools i've ever seen. Nobody goes to the games, the stands sit mostly empty as the UM team plays. Who gets inspired by that? Or could it be that after getting housed by LSU Miami decided to "clean house" and fired the two coaches who had landed Pat Devlin?
It isn't surprising that a young man chose Penn State over Miami for the following reasons: You would get to play here!Thousands of PSU students showed up to chant Devlin's name at a PSU basketball game he attended. PSU basketball is terrible, but yet hundreds of kids showed up specifically to help recruit Devlin. More people showed up to convince Devlin to play for PSU than who show up to watch an average Hurricanes' game. I mean honestly, everyone would choose PSU!

The scariest thing in the world!

After giving it a terribly large amount of consideration I have determined what qualifies as the scariest thing in the world. The scenario goes like this:

You are at a relative strangers house for a social gathering, this person could be a new boss, a casual acquaintance, or just someone you know from school. You are having a good time, the conversation is lively and there are several other people at the gathering. You know most of them, some better than others. After dinner you receive "nature's call". It comes upon you suddenly and you hustle into the lavratory.

Fortunately there is no line and you settle in to take care of business. Once you are completed, and feeling more than a little proud of yourself, you flush. Then the water starts to go up instead of down! You are being confronted with the worst situation possible. You quickly glance for a plunger, there is none available. You consider going Mario Brothers on the plumbing but not even this makes sense to you.

The worst case scenario floods your mind, you will be standing in murky water amongst your own feces as the water streams out of the bathroom and notifies everyone of your error. You will be an outcast, unloved, and as unwanted as a turd marked: "return to sender".

(In fact, the entire Amish way of life was started by people who accidently clogged a toilet.)

Fortunately, a miracle occurs, the water starts to recede! Your good name is saved but you have just experienced the scariest thing in the world!

Recruiting

The PSU football class of 2006 is starting to take shape and the outlook at this point appears very positive. Rivals.com ranks PSU's recruiting class as the 10th in the nation with 10 4 star recruits and 6 3 star recruits. PSU also has a higher average of stars per player than they did with last years stellar recruiting class. (3.44 this year as compared to 3.05 last year). The most talented recruits are on the defenseive side of the ball, particularly Defensive line. Recruiting Defense is great, particularly because it looks like the offense will still be productive. However this does leave me with some concerns.

My concerns are limited, but there is no such thing as an unimportant part of a football team. The two places where PSU seems to need bolstering is Offensive line and Defensive secondary.
Levi Brown is the only returning starter on offensive line, he is an All-American but he is the only returning starter. The importance of the offensive line will be heightened because Morelli is a less mobile quarterback than Robinson was. Developing the offensive line will be critical to both the running attack and the high powered passing attack.

The Defensive Secondary has been decimated by graduation. Hopefully the emergence of Deion Butler, and other receivers along with the return of Derrick Williams will allow Justin King to focus on being a dominant corner.

This will remain a part of the team to watch through spring practices and the Blue and White game.

ESPN has been running its mouth for weeks about how this years USC team is one of, if not the, greatest team of all time. This was and is bullshit. USC isn't even the best team this year! I don't have anything against USC but I'm just glad the weeks of sucking USC's nuts have come to a close.
Yes, USC is a good team even a very good team but one of the greatest teams of all time? Please! I don't even like Texas but I'm glad they beat one of the most overrated teams of all time. USC isn't overrated because they are bad but because of the hype! Win something first then claim to be one of the greatest of all time!

Orange Bowl

The Orange Bowl lived up to my expectations in the following ways:
The tailgate was righteous!
Tons of PSU fans in the stands!
F$U fans boggle the mind, I just don't understand them.
PSU wins!
The Tailgate was definitely a good time. good food, good people and good beer, that is all a tailgate should be.
The stands were full of Penn State fans. Despite the game being played in Florida the crowd was easily a home crowd for PSU. This makes me question the loyalty and dedication of the F$U crowd. It is impossible for me to believe that F$U fans could've outnumbered PSU fans if the game was played in Pittsburg.
Apparently F$U does not only not travel well but also the fans that do make the trip have the mental age of an ironing board. To the F$U fan the tomahawk chop is the solution to all of life's problems. If a team picks up 5 yards or 50 yards the answer is, as always, the tomahawk chop. I also noticed during my time with these curious creatures that F$U fans love to cheer boisterously when F$U has the ball. I always thought the idea was to be quite so your team could hear each other on offense, apparently not. I did enjoy the added noise to help screw up the criminole$ whenever possible. In sum, F$U fans basically do everything the opposite of PSU fans, which is to say that they do everything wrong.

PSU vs. F$U and other crap

Tonight Nebraska is taking on Michigan. I honestly never had that much against Michigan....Until this year. I've always hated Nebraska, they are the Miami of the Midwest! Of course, by this, I mean that they are jerks, thieves, criminals, and turds. However, I think this will turn out to be a reasonably close game. I don't think there will be a blowout by any means. I'd guess Mich 27 Neb 20. This is mainly because the big 12 is trash and is a terrible conference, Texas being a big exception.

PSU went on down to south Fla. a couple of days ago to begin practicing to take on the worst team of all time, the Criminole$! I am flying down tomorrow for some New Years fun and then go to Miami for the game on Tues. Penn State is clearly a superior team compared to F$U but the (team w/ the stupidest cheer of all time) can still play defense. However, my final predictions for this matchup of the two winningest coaches of all time will end Thusly:

I hate bobby bowden. I mean, I REALLY HATE BOBBY BOWDEN! The bowl bids haven't officially gone out yet but because Va Tech crumbles whenever they have to play a team that is for real it looks like the criminoles have taken the hokies spot in the orange bowl. I couldn't have asked for a better situation than this. If PSU isn't playing for in the national title game at least let them face a team i can't stand. Joe Paterno is quite frankly the man. This is a great article about why! However, elsewhere on CNNSI they predict an upset calling for a 31-24 spartans win. This will simply not happen.
Everybody I talk to today mentions that msu is playing for a bowl berth, and it is completely true msu is playing for a bowl berth. HOWEVER, PSU is playing for the BIG TEN TITLE! The team has been focused all year and that focus will continue with lazer-like intensity on Saturday. I'm not saying the spartans are a bad team, in fact for 5-5 I think they are good but PSU has beaten better this year!
CNNSI does have a good article about the Joepa vs. Bowden battle for winningest coach. This is a great article and basically completely true.

The battle between Paterno and Bobby Bowden for the Division I wins lead doesn't get much attention because Penn State hasn't been very good lately. Paterno passed Bear Bryant in 2001. Bowden overtook Paterno during the 2003 season. Back then it seemed the two might be trading the title of "winningest coach in Division I history" several times a season. And it would have been a perfect back-and-forth because of the contrast between the two programs: Paterno's no-names-on-the-jerseys student-athletes versus Bowden's tomahawk-chopping, look-at-me pre-professionals. It's not really good versus evil, but it's close enough that if you wanted to pretend it was, you could just go ahead and enjoy yourself.

IT IS GOOD VS. EVIL! (just as it will be in a possible PSU vs. miami game!)

Penn State vs. Michigan State Predictions....

I'm making my predictions this week a little early becuase of the trial (Sat.) which is hanging over my like a guillotine. I am, however, very much looking forward to PSU being in E. Lansing to play the spartans for the Big Ten Title. Everybody's said it: the spartans are up and down. will they be up, or will they be down? The oddsmakers have PSU as a 7.5 pt favorite. This is a pretty reasonable estimate, the spartans are at home and they have a good, albeit careless team. My predictions, however, are based on the fact that the spartans simply can't play defense. They give up an average of 28.5 pts/game and 391 yds/game. They can score pts however, averaging 35/game. This is the thing, PSU gives up les than 16pts per game and i see nothing more special about the spartans than osu, minn, or wisc. Based on all of this my predictions go as follows:
PSU: 41
msu: 13

bold, i know, especially since i'm going to a msu fan's house for the game.

PSU trounced the badgers this weekend. The badgers only managed 14 pts, all of which came in the 4th quarter. Calhoun managed only 38 yds rushing and only 48 yards receiving! Just as the lions completely dispatched of Lawrence Maroney they have done the same to Mr. Calhoun. The Penn State defense is where highly touted running backs go to die.
It was gratifying to hear Lee Corso say that Paul Posluszny is the best linebacker in the country, it should also be added that Tamba Hali is, at least, one of the best DEs in the country. He dominated Wisconsin's offensive line despite being double teamed for most of the game. The Penn State Defense played lights out football this weekend.
Because of the D I personally think that PSU can play with anyone in the country; including Texas and USC. Yes, I know they are both very good blah-blah blah. Penn State is very good also and I personally believe that we could take anybody in the country. After the bowl games it will be critical to try to get a +1 into the current bowl system, to get a settled champ.
After the win the rankings have come out and PSU has been propelled to #6 in the nation but as to what this means, nobody knows. Where PSU will play their bowl game and against whom will it be? Again, nobody knows.
The Lions get a week off and then PSU needs to seal the deal and beat MSU. The Spartans have been very two-faced this year and are certainly a team that PSU can beat. Penn State just needs to focus on the Spartans and take care of business. Lets Go State!

Dark House

The power at our house has been down for 9 days now and I don't foresee it being reinstalled in the immediate future. This, however, has gotten me to thinking that a reality series about Mere and I living in a house that had no power would be funny. It would be a lot like those "Tiny House" commercials for Geico. I would still say things like: "I just want to make an omelette!!!" or "This is kind of awesome." Of course it is just as equally un-awesome to live in a house that has no power as one that is built 1/3 too small.
There would still be difficulty sleeping, in our case because of the lack of AC as opposed to the bed being too small. Mere would constantly exclaim: "This is NOT awesome!!!!". Really this would be a fairly brilliant show. I would call it "Dark House".

The badgers are rolling into happy valley this weekend after dispatching the hapless Illini. Penn State is still flying high after a win at home against a purdue team which hasn't lived up to expectations. This game is fantastically important for both teams because the outcome will, probably, determine the Big Ten Champs. Wisconsin is a very good football team and always have solid front lines on both sides of the ball. Stocco is a solid QB but the real key to winning this game, like so many games, will be for PSU to shut down the running lanes and contain Calhoun. He has rushed for over 1,200 yds and has 19 rushing touchdowns this year! holding this guy under 100 yards has to be priority number one for the defense. It is critical to make Stocco shoulder the load and make him responsible for winning the game.
If the Penn State Defense can slow the wisconsin rushing attack, and the PSU offense can control the ball then Penn State should win. Lets also not forget the Best student section in the country making things rough on the badgers!

My predictions:
PSU: 31
Wisconsin: 17

PSU should still win, and hopefully win big, but it is critical for Penn State to come out fired up and ready to play. Joe knows Purdue is still a dangerous football team and he should be able to impress that upon the guys. Hopefully, the team benefited from a blow out in Illinois and the starters are a little recharged physically and Emotionally! GO STATE!!! BEAT PURDUE!!!!

Next week PSU travels to Illinois to face what is a down football team. Odds are Penn State will outmatch Illinois on both sides of the ball. However, this game will be changed for PSU because of the season ending injury suffered by, my mainest-man D-Will. Because Williams will be sitting for at least the rest of the regular season it is important for the other receivers to become adjusted to their new roles in the offense. A road game against Illinois is a good way to get these guys used to filling whatever new roles the coaching staff has for them before the final tests of the season are upon PSU. These receivers are young and talented but it is important to get them comortable before we play Purdue, Wisconsin, and Mich. State.
Hopefully it isn't an insanely close taxing game. Penn State is coming off a tough loss at Michigan and could use a win that isn't a taxing, emotional struggle, that goes right down to the wire. Not to say the kids at Penn State shouldn't be ready to play and bring their A-game, but rather that hopefully Penn State will get on top early and take care of business to avoid further draining the team emotionally. This game will hopefully get PSU some more experience, a bit of an emotional break, and most importantly a W.

Apparently my blog has become a Mecca of sorts for Michigan fans to come and post comments, dreamed up in their fever-addled brains, about Penn State and myself. Its encouraging to know that Michigan fans have the time and the inclination to visit my humble site. This is probably because there isn't much else to do as a Wolverine fan considering the fact that their team already has 3 losses. There is also a good chance of being handed 2 more. Most of the posts involve some sort of extremely clever turn of phrase: "sword loser", "maize and blue you away". All of these, I think is awesome! They also seem to focus on sticking things up asses, probably mine. which is cool i guess. Well, the shot at the undefeated season is over after a heart-breaking loss in Ann-Arbor (a whore). This is probably the most difficult loss to swallow since PSU lost to Minnesota in '99. The game, however, was awesome. after a defensive struggle in the first half there was an explosion of offense in the second half. However, PSU suffered a major loss when D. Will broke his arm in the 4th quarter. he is out for the year. which sucks, since it is pretty clear he is the best wide receiver on the team.
My objections to how the game ended are few but important. it was, in retrospect, a real mistake to kick the ball to breaston w/ 53 seconds left. just a mistake. his lengthy return really set up the game winning drive. Next, the refs not reviewing that fucking catch where the Mich. wide receiver clearly stepped out of bounds. There is video review for a reason. this is especially raw because the booth had just reviewed a catch by Penn State. I mean, neither of them were catches but why wasn't it reviewed? if it is close refs you have to give time for a video review. other than that i'm just surprised that the Penn State D let Mich. go down the field like that.
Finally, the game was great. PSU is now ranked 12th, not too shabby. With a patsy next week in Illinois and then back to the big boys against Purdue, Wisconsin, and then at Mich. State to end the year. The loss is hard but PSU is still having a great year and i'm looking forward to PSU crushing the lowly illini.

I'd like to resond to some of the posts by Michigan fans: First of all, nothing can make an Ohio State fan look classy. nothing. Second, it was a great game, and if it weren't for Mich.'s whining for more time, and clearly getting some generous calls including: calling a catch out of bounds a catch, over-looking a fumble, and generally homer-fucking-tastic refs. PSU would have won. Eat hatred Mich. I look forward to our next meeting in the greatest football town in the world, and the BEST PLACE TO TAILGATE IN THE NATION! you feckless douchebags. After looking at what the best and worst minds in college football have to say about PSU and the wolverines i have made, what i'm sure will be, an astoundingly accurate prediction for the game today. It is critical for Penn State to come out with the same intensity on the road that they had at home last week. A big road win, and don't be mistaken this would be a big road win, will go a long way with pollsters and will answer the few remaining questions about Penn State.

I just checked the line on next weeks Penn State game and the damned thing has michigan as a favorite by 3 points! This is a slap right in the face! I'll easily grant that michigan is not a bad football team just because they are 3-3, they are definitely the best 3-3 football team in college football, however, Penn State is undefeated. Penn State just beat two ranked teams in back to back weeks, one of them in the top ten. I mean, come on!

Gameday was awesome, however, both Herbstriet, and Corso (a pig-fucker) picked osu. I am in complete disagreement with the Homer and the Turd! Herbstriet attended the worst college on earth. The graduates that I have met who attended osu have barely been able to read! See Carlos, Andy Katzenmoyer. Corso is just a dirty pig-fucker. Thats it.

The weather in Happy Valley is terrible. It is going to be wet and sloppy and it will put make it very difficult for either team to make big plays. Both Defenses are strong but I remain stalwart in my prediction of PSU: 27 osu: 24!

My plans for the rest of the day involve watching football, and stockin up on some Lager! WE ARE! PENN STATE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Ok, i just think its time to get one thing straight; PSU is back! After a 4-0 start most people pointed to this weeks Minnesota game as a true test for Penn State. Most of the talk centered around Lawrenece Maroney, and his prowess at running the ball and breaking the will of whatever defense he faced. "Oooh Maroney is soooo good!", "Good luck stopping Maroney!" I heard both more then once in the last week. For those of you who didn't catch the game, apparently, PSU has pretty good fucking luck! Check out the box score! Maroney managed to eek out 48 yards in 16 carries. Penn State controlled the ball and the game from whistle to whislte and generally dominated Minnesota in every meaningful aspect of a football game. Minnesota was the hot new pick coming out of last weeks win over Purdue, clearly it MUST BE PSU NOW!

I also have some stern words for various people, who will be named, that called for Joe Paterno's retirmenent. The said the game passed him by. An old dog can't learn new tricks. I have one thing to say: GO FUCK YOURSELVES! If you were a Penn State fan and you wanted Joe to retire i think you can go right to hell. He is the greatest coach of all time and you were too fucking stupid to see it!

By all reports, and simple logic, President Bush will rush to Houston and other affected areas after hurricane Rita passes. I just think its weird the President is going to be in Texas. He is almost never there! I heard he hates Texas!
